How can I improve my posture at work?
The 3 postural related strategies every successful employee needs to focus on to accelerate at work. Whether you are still working from home or back in the office.
- Sitting posture – lots of you are sitting most of your day so it is important to get this right. A poor sitting position can lead to reduced focus and concentration, brain fog, and sluggish energy along with various back and neck aches and pains. So make sure your workspace and chair are set up correctly if you don’t know what this is or need any help please come to our sitting, sleeping, and standing workshop. Ideally, you should have a chair with a flat base and flat back support then using a seat wedge to make sure your knees are lower than your pelvis, no fancy orthopaedic chairs, most of them do more harm than good.
- Get up and move – We are designed to move so make sure you get up at least every 20-30 min and walk or do some simple stretching, a minute is all it takes. This will increase the blood flow to your brain and recharge your energy to help you focus and concentrate therefore making you more productive. Don’t worry about spending time getting up and moving it will increase your daily productivity.
- Sleep – Yes getting enough quality sleep to make sure you wake up rested for your day is important. With a good night’s sleep, you will be more productive and focused on your day. In order to get the best night’s sleep, what you sleep on and what position you sleep in has an impact on your sleep quality. Sleeping on a very firm mattress such as the ABC mattress we recommend will give your body the right support for sleep. A soft mattress like memory foam will have a negative impact on your body and its sleep. Sleeping on your tummy causes your body stress and can cause you to wake up repeatedly in the night. Sleeping on your side with the correct pillow height you will fall asleep within 20 minutes and sleep through the night and wake up rested.
