Migraine prevention
Migraine prevention at our Finsbury Park clinic
While migraines have multiple triggers, tension in the neck and upper back may be a contributing factor for some people. Regular chiropractic care may help prevent migraines by addressing the postural habits involved.

Where the neck fits in
Migraines have many possible triggers. One of them is the neck, and that is where we can help.
When the head is carried forward of the shoulders, the muscles and joints at the top of the neck are under constant strain. For some people that strain is part of what sets a migraine off.
How we help with migraine prevention
Your initial consultation is up to an hour: a detailed case history, an examination of your muscles, joints and nerves, and postural photos so we can see how your whole body is carrying itself.
We go through your migraine history and look closely at how your head is sitting on your neck. At your report of findings we explain what we found and recommend a care plan.
What care at Posture & Wellness involves
ABC™ corrects the bones that have shifted forward and that your body cannot put back on its own, letting your head settle back over your shoulders and taking the strain off the neck.
Adjustments are gentle, full-body and done fully clothed. We also show you how to sit, sleep and stand so the correction holds between visits.
When to seek medical help first
Please seek urgent medical help for a sudden, extremely painful headache, a headache with weakness or numbness, trouble speaking, loss of vision, confusion or a seizure, a very high temperature with a stiff neck, or any headache after a head injury.
If your migraines are new, changing or getting worse, see your GP first. We are happy to see you once they have.
Frequently asked questions
Can chiropractic care help prevent my migraines?
For some people, yes. Tension in the neck and upper back can be one of the triggers, and regular chiropractic care works on exactly that. At your report of findings we will tell you whether your neck looks like part of the picture.
Do I need a referral from my GP?
No. Chiropractic care is a primary healthcare profession, so you can book in with us directly.
