What does anterior pelvic tilt look like?
From the side, the front of the pelvis drops and the lower back arches. The stomach looks more prominent and the bottom more pushed out, even if you are slim and strong.
What causes it?
Long hours sitting, old injuries, heavy bags and unsupportive footwear all push the body forwards. Bones get stuck in a position the body cannot self-correct, because no muscles pull them back. The pelvis tips to keep you upright.
A simple self-check
Ask someone to take a relaxed side-on photo. Do not try to stand correctly. If your lower back is strongly arched and your pelvis tips forwards, it is worth getting looked at.
Habits that help
- Break up long periods of sitting
- Keep active rather than holding one 'correct' posture
- Set up your desk so your feet, hips and back feel supported
- Build strength through the hips and trunk
- Look at your footwear and the bags you carry

How we help with anterior pelvic tilt at Posture & Wellness
We use ABC™ to get to the root cause rather than chase the symptom. It corrects the bones that have shifted forward and that your body cannot fix on its own, so posture improves and function is restored.
