Muscle spasms
Muscle spasm care at our Finsbury Park clinic
Persistent muscle spasms are often the body's way of compensating. With chiropractic care, we assess the body as a whole and work with your posture and alignment to help reduce spasms.

Why muscles go into spasm
A spasm is a muscle tightening on its own and refusing to let go. It can grip the back, the neck, between the shoulder blades or down a leg, and it often returns in the same place.
When bones in the spine have shifted forward and the body twists to compensate, some muscles are left holding you up all day. A spasm is often those muscles reaching their limit.
How we help with muscle spasms
Your initial consultation is up to an hour: a detailed case history, an examination of your muscles, joints and nerves, and postural photos so we can see how your whole body is carrying itself.
We want to know where the spasm sits and what the rest of your body is doing to cause it. At your report of findings we explain what we found and recommend a care plan.
What care at Posture & Wellness involves
ABC™ corrects the bones that have shifted forward and that your body cannot put back on its own. Once your structure is doing its job, the muscles that have been bracing can finally stop.
Adjustments are gentle, full-body and done fully clothed. We also show you how to sit, sleep and stand so the correction holds between visits.
When to see a doctor first
Please get medical advice first if a spasm comes with weakness or numbness in your arms or legs, with new bladder or bowel problems, after a fall or accident, or with a high temperature.
Frequent cramps or spasms with no obvious cause are also worth a conversation with your GP.
Frequently asked questions
Will the adjustments hurt?
Most people find them comfortable, and many tell us they feel a bit lighter or more upright afterwards. We always explain what we're doing before we do it and work at a pace that's right for you.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on your body, your history and what you're hoping to achieve. We won't know until we've examined you. We'll talk you through a recommended plan at your report of findings.
