The similarities
- Both are regulated by law in the UK, with protected titles
- Both see people with muscle, joint and nerve pain
- Both use hands-on techniques alongside exercise and self-care advice
- Both should examine you, explain their recommendations and ask for your consent
The regulators are different
Each profession has its own regulator and its own public register. Using either title without being registered is against the law, and you can check both registers online.
How the professions describe themselves
Chiropractic is a primary healthcare system focused on diagnosing, treating and managing joint misalignments, particularly of the spine, including through spinal and joint manipulation.
Osteopathy is usually described as diagnosis and treatment focused on the musculoskeletal system and its relationship with the rest of the body, using manipulation, stretching and massage.
So which should you choose?
Look past the title and ask about the person. Are they registered? Do they regularly see your kind of problem? Can they explain what they found and what they plan to do? Our free discovery call exists for exactly these questions.
Why choose Posture & Wellness?
Whichever title you choose, what you are really choosing is a specialism. Ours is posture correction using Advanced Biostructural Correction (ABC™), with over 10 years of experience in the technique.
If you have tried physio, massage or other therapies and the pain keeps coming back, and you want the underlying cause corrected rather than the symptom managed, that is what we do.
